The first online symposium of its kind in Scotland brought together arts therapists, community, performing artists and professionals from different disciplinary spaces to re-consider what the arts can offer to people and communities when facing death, dying and loss.

With support from Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care, Queen Margaret University Edinburgh and Scottish Music Therapy Trust

The Arts in Palliative Care
‘Re-considering care, aesthetics, value’
20th October 2020
Online event (10am-4pm)

The symposium invited panels of speakers to explore notions of care, aesthetics and value in relation to four key areas:

i) community, voices
ii) partnerships, currencies
iii) body, words
iv) transitions, aesthetics.

As well as participating in dialogue and networking, participants were able to access ‘In the making’; an online gallery of creative arts processes and products from hospices across Scotland.

After the symposium, delegates were given online access to the private view of the Hospice’s annual Art Friends Exhibition.

The symposium is a free, online event. To find out about our 2021 Arts Symposium ‘(un)learning for uncertain times’ on 20th October 2021, please click on the link below.
