Staging the Truth: Drama Therapy with Bereaved Children
This talk explores how drama therapy can be used to truthfully and creatively engage children in conversations about death and loss.
Designed for clinicians working with children ages 4–12 in hospital, private practice, and community mental health settings, this talk puts children at the centre to actively share the stage of healing, identity, and grief.
Stephanie Omens, MA, RDT-BCT, LCAT, LMHC, is the author of Dramatherapy and the Bereaved Child (Routledge, 2024). With over two decades of experience, she supports children and families through grief using trauma-informed, embodied, and developmentally attuned drama therapy practices. Her work emphasizes inclusive, culturally responsive care.
