Support our appeal

Our trees in Charlotte Square, Haddington House Garden and here in our Hospice grounds are now lit up for Christmas, where our families and wider community can enjoy them in their own time. You can dedicate a light in memory of a loved one and, by doing so, support our Light up a life Appeal.

Light up a life

Remember a loved one this Christmas by dedicating a light on our Tree of Remembrance. Dedications can be made throughout the festive period and our trees will remain lit until Monday 4th January. We hope that the lights shining out from our trees provide comfort and hope to everyone in our community over Christmas.

Message from Sir Tom Farmer

Hello everyone, I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well.

Unfortunately we can’t all be together this year for the lighting of the St Columba’s Hospice Care tree in Charlotte Square Gardens, but we can still share something of the event with the use of modern technology.

The occasion is always a highlight of my calendar and although we can’t all watch the lights go on together, it’s good to know that the tree will be lit in the centre of Edinburgh where we can see it if we're passing.

This annual event is all about our community coming together to remember loved ones who are sadly no longer with us. It’s also a chance to show our support for the tremendous work carried out by the team at the hospice. This year has been especially challenging, with everyone at the hospice working hard together to continue to provide the vital care and support patients and families need right across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Thank you for your support of the hospice, in whatever way that may be, and may I wish you a peaceful Christmas and New Year.

Sir Tom Farmer
