Join the North Berwick Compassionate Community Team for the third in a series of four free online events called ‘Armchair Chats’.
Following on from the success of our first two 'Armchair Chats', our third event will take place on Tuesday 27th April at 7pm and is now available to book online via Eventbrite. You'll find registration and booking information below.
This third Chat centres on Soul Midwives and Death Doulas – practitioners who work in the community engaging with people at the end of their lives, offering care, guidance, and spiritual support during a person’s last days.
Jude Meryl, a local Soul Midwife will discuss how Soul Midwives work with the dying, and how some of the techniques of Soul Midwifery can help us all to support those at their end of life. Jude is a Soul Midwife, Soul Midwives’ Mentor and Tutor, and a TLC (Tender Loving Care) Trainer.
Lucy Aykroyd, a local author, will read from her book Leaves of Love. This book is described as offering a small ‘pebble in your pocket’ guide for those accompanying someone as they age and come to the end of their life. Real life stories adapted from Lucy’s work as an end-of-life Doula, act as beautiful reminders of simple ways to be, heartfelt ways to listen and creative ideas to support the people we walk alongside.
The event will also feature live music from Abi, a singer and educator, with a wide range of music from the nostalgic 40s, through the soulful 70s, and all the way up to modern pop and jazz/blues songs.
To attend this free event, first register by clicking on the Eventbrite link below and booking your place prior to 27 April.
Once registered, you will be sent an email to confirm your place and details of the meeting ahead of the event. Subtitles will be available.
The meeting will take place via Zoom. You can find information about zoom and how to set up an account here.
We look forward to welcoming you to this event.
Best wishes from Fiona, Lorna and Deborah
