A hundred handmade butterflies gifted to the community adorn the gates of St Mark’s Portobello.
Our compassionate communities team love to hear stories of people connecting in meaningful and reciprocal ways.
During ‘To Absent Friends’ week last year our Compassionate Communities Team partnered with St Mark’s Portobello to create and offer a reflective space within its graveyard and gardens, for all in its community wishing to mark their stories of grief, uncertainty, loss and hope.
People came, and made their own journeys through the garden; remembering those they had loved and grieving the spaces left by their dying.
On Easter morning this year the gates to the garden were decorated with over 100 handmade butterflies, gifted to the community as a sign of hope, care and compassion.
We hope to share more lovely stories of compassion in our communities with you through our website and facebook page soon.
