St Columba’s Hospice Care hit the fundraising jackpot at its spectacular Vegas-themed charity dinner, raising an incredible £93,000 to support its vital work.

Held at the stunning Prestonfield House Hotel, the event welcomed 300 guests for an unforgettable evening of show-stopping entertainment, a lively auction, and casino-style fun—all in the spirit of raising much-needed funds for hospice care.

The night began in true Vegas style with a dazzling performance of “Viva Las Vegas” by GPRO Performing Arts and GAMTA, featuring Elvis, glamorous showgirls and high-energy choreography. Later in the evening Elyssa Tait, a semi-finalist in The Voice Kids 2023, captivated the audience with her incredible vocals, before Scottish band Bleeker kept the dance floor packed into the wee small hours with a mix of current and classic hits.

The evening was expertly hosted by well-known actor, broadcaster and presenter, Grant Stott, who kept the energy high as guests bid generously in the auction, helping to push the fundraising total to an impressive figure.

Beyond the glitz and glamour, the night was a poignant reminder of why St Columba’s Hospice Care’s work is so important. Holly Smith, 25, delivered a moving speech in memory of her mother, Maxine Simpson-Smith, who sadly died from cancer last month. Holly’s heartfelt words resonated with the room, and were reinforced by a beautifully crafted film by Blade & Bow, highlighting the compassionate care and support the hospice provides to patients and their families.

Jon Heggie, Director of Income Generation at St Columba’s Hospice Care, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled by the generosity of our supporters, whose kindness has helped us raise an incredible £93,000. Every penny will go towards ensuring we can continue providing expert, compassionate care to those who need it most. Events like this not only raise essential funds but also bring people together to celebrate life, love, and the impact of hospice care. We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, donated, and made the evening so special.”

The funds raised will support St Columba’s Hospice Care in delivering expert, person-centred palliative care across Edinburgh and the Lothians, ensuring that individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses receive the comfort, dignity, and support they deserve.
