St Columba’s Hospice Care is delighted to announce a new charity partnership with Edinburgh-based family business Broughton Removals.
As part of the collaboration, one of Broughton Removals' newest vans, affectionately named "Donny", will proudly display St Columba’s Hospice Care branding as it travels throughout Edinburgh and beyond, helping to raise awareness of the Hospice’s services and support for local families.
The van has been named in memory of Donny Macleod, father of long-serving Broughton Removals employee Stewart Macleod, who received care and support from St Columba’s Hospice Care. The partnership reflects both a personal connection to the Hospice and a shared commitment to supporting the local community.
Broughton Removals, established in 1970, operates a fleet of more than 20 vehicles across Edinburgh and the UK. The company has a proud history of supporting charitable causes, including its well-known pink van, "Nelly", which was launched in support of breast cancer awareness.
In addition to featuring Hospice branding on the vehicle, the partnership will include fundraising activities involving Broughton Removals staff throughout the year.
Jo Munro, Director at Broughton Removals, said: "As a family business, supporting our local community has always been important to us. St Columba’s Hospice Care is a charity that means a great deal to many families across Edinburgh, including members of our own team. Naming the van Donny in memory of Stewart’s dad felt like a fitting tribute, and we're delighted to use the van to help raise awareness of the incredible care and support the Hospice provides. We look forward to working together and supporting the Hospice through future fundraising activities."
Jon Heggie, Director of Income Generation at St Columba’s Hospice Care, said: "We're incredibly grateful to Broughton Removals for choosing to support St Columba’s Hospice Care through this innovative partnership. Donny will be a visible reminder of the compassion and care that hospice services provide to families across our community. Partnerships like this help raise awareness of our work while bringing local businesses and communities together in support of hospice care. We're excited to see Donny out and about on Edinburgh's streets and to work with the Broughton team on future fundraising initiatives."
