The Wellbeing Unit at St Columba’s Hospice Care is a place where people can stay for up to 4 nights for rehabiliation and symptom management, to enable them to live well with their life limiting condition. As part of the Wellbeing Unit, we have a Community Programme based in our Wellbeing Hub, here you will find regular classes and short term 6-8 week self-management programs, as well as Music, Art and Complementary Therapies; all of which can be attended by those in the unit and people who are being supported in the community.
Our Wellbeing Volunteers assist with our Community Programme; supporting attendees and helping them to get the very best experience of our classes and helping the class facilitators to set up and tidy away.
Hospice staff and volunteers are expected to reflect our Hospice Values in the way they carry out their roles, and in their interactions with each other and with patients, family members and any other visitors.
Our Values are: Care and Compassion, Respect, Trust and Partnership.
This would suit a retired health professional, those studying in areas of medicine, allied health, nursing, etc. It is also a great opportunity for 6th form students who are hoping to study in these areas and anyone looking to move into a career in Health Care.
Some understanding of palliative care and the work of a Hospice would also be beneficial, but full training will be given.
However, if you are enthusiastic, with good communication skills, fit and healthy, with an interest in supporting people to get the very best out of life; we would love to hear from you!
One morning or afternoon each week. The role will be reviewed on a yearly basis.
