Jenny, community care
Our governors are responsible for steering the Hospice’s policies and plans. They are important ambassadors for our work and they ensure that we are accountable to our regulators and the public. Their skills and knowledge bring different perspectives and expertise to St Columba's Hospice Care.
Meet our governorsI have worked across Scotland in palliative care since 1998 in a number of settings including inpatient, community, day therapies and education roles. Now, as Deputy Chief Executive Officer at St Columba’s Hospice Care, I work with the Hospice team in partnership with colleagues across Lothian to develop and deliver care as close to people’s homes as possible.
I am a registered nurse with a wealth of experience in hospice care, and recently consolidated this with a MSc Hospice Leadership. I channel my passion for continual improvement and person-centred care into my role leading the Hospice clinical strategy, HR and quality assurance processes.
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with EY in 1997, I left audit for the commercial sector and have gained a wealth of experience across a variety of industries including telecoms, professional services and healthcare.
Relocating to Edinburgh from Buckinghamshire in 2012 prompted a move into charity finance where I have spent the last 10 years in a number of senior finance positions within local charities, mainly in the medical sector.
I was delighted to join the Hospice in September 2023 as Director of Finance.
I bring extensive experience in managing buildings and estates, ensuring they are customer-focused. Over a 23-year career in the building industry, I held a variety of roles, ranging from home installations to managing public buildings and even a well-known local tourist attraction.
In addition, I have substantial expertise in risk management and project management, developed during my time in the semiconductor industry.
For the past 15 years, I have worked in the charity sector, which I find incredibly rewarding. I have also been actively involved with the Scouting Association for 35 years, taking on a variety of roles throughout that time.
