Our new warehouse unit in Swanfield, Leith, is an important addition to our retail family and we are looking for volunteers to help our staff with our online shops. This is a non-customer facing role and Volunteers should be able to work independently, alongside staff in the warehouse.

 This role covers listing stock online; taking attractive photos for the listing, researching appropriate prices, getting stock ready to post, etc. We are looking for someone who is familiar with online selling and understands the process.

 Hospice staff and volunteers are expected to reflect our Hospice Values in the way they carry out their roles, and in their interactions with each other and with patients, family members and any other visitors.

What will I be doing/involved in?

Helping to research items online including clothing and collectables, taking photographs and listing stock online with accurate descriptions, packaging up items to be posted and organising collection.

What experience or skills do I need?

  • IT literate

  •  Interested in old and unusual items or current online fashion trends

  • Familiar with the online selling process

  • Organised and reliable

  • Ability to use apps for research and listing items for sale.

Time commitment and duration

One afternoon / morning each week/ fortnightly. The role will be reviewed on a yearly basis

Additional Information

  • Hospice Chaplains are always available to support volunteers 

  • Volunteers may claim reasonable travelling expenses for transport to and from the Hospice, or the place you volunteer, e.g. one of our retail shops. Please speak to your manager about this.

  • The Hospice provides complimentary tea and coffee to all volunteers, staff, patients and families as part of the hospitality strategy.
